Delta Ponds

I went for a bike ride today and got a chance to do some shooting at the Delta Ponds near Valley River Center and the surrounding area.  This area is filled with wildlife, colorful flowers and lots of opportunity to catch mother nature putting her best foot forward... you just have to keep your eyes open and enjoy.
I was able to shoot some b&w as well as experiment with some bokeh and soft focus.  While roaming this region I ran into ducks (of course), geese, heron, turtles and even a dragonfly, though it was too quick for me to catch it sitting still.  A majestic sunset closed out the day from the Delta Pedestrian Bridge.

Owen Rose Garden

The right place, the right time.  We hear it all the time.  It’s a commonplace saying that often gets ignored because it leaves a lot to chance.  I try not to use that expression because I don’t like leaving things to chance.

To be a great photographer you can’t leave things to chance.  Just as any other applied skill or trade there is a learning curve.  When the right moment comes along you hope your knowledge turns out better than just the right place and right time

Owen Rose Garden offers a great variety of flowers every summer and, because of its location and plenty of shaded areas, attracts a lot of folks on warmer days.  I went there today specifically looking for shots of roses and other flowers.  I wasn’t expecting to see anything as colorful as the dragonfly that came across my viewfinder, however, I’m very glad I was ready to capture it.  Enjoy.
